“Moreover, she calls Paris home (which, in itself, is quite enviable). To be precise, Jeanne Damas is not just a resident of Paris; she’s a true Parisian at heart.

“Yes, I was born in Paris,” she warmly declares in her charmingly accented English, “I grew up here, and I still live here, and I believe I always will.” While she embarks on her months-long travels, Damas has firmly rooted her brand, Rouje—a collection of ethereal women’s clothing, with its most coveted pieces often regrettably sold out—right here in Paris. She also shares an apartment that could make anyone envious with her boyfriend (and, as previously mentioned, her adorable fluffy cat, Charlie). “My job takes me to many places, but coming back to Paris always brings me joy,” she shares. “You can leave Paris, but when you return, you rediscover its magic once more.”

Jeanne Damas

We had the pleasure of meeting Jeanne Damas during our Paris Portfolio shoot for GQ Style’s fall issue. She graciously joined the likes of Virgil Abloh, Olivier Rousteing, Justin O’Shea, and others to discuss the significance of Paris in their lives. We couldn’t resist asking everyone for their insights on navigating this extraordinary city, and Damas proved to be a goldmine of knowledge that only a true native could offer.

Below, we present you with a map of the city, curated by the incomparable Jeanne Damas. Isn’t it simply chic?

Here are some of Jeanne Damas’s favorite gems in Paris:

Her Saturday Sanctuary: “I adore spending my Saturdays at Le Marché d’Aligre in the 12th Arrondissement. It’s a local treasure, well-known to Parisians but often missed by tourists. The market operates daily, but the weekends are when it truly shines. In the morning, you can indulge in vibrant flower shopping, and as the day unfolds, you’ll find fantastic spots to enjoy a glass of wine.”

The Ultimate Bakery: “When it comes to bakeries, there’s no beating Le Blé Sucré. They serve up the finest croissants and pain au chocolat in all of Paris!”

Hidden Culinary Delight: “Le Servan is a hidden culinary gem that I absolutely adore. It’s run by two remarkable sisters—one in the kitchen, and the other in the restaurant. Everything they offer is exceptional, even down to the bread. It’s a bit crazy how good it is! The menu changes weekly, but I can’t get enough of their red meat and escargot.”

Jeanne Damas Hot

A Taste of the South of France: “For a slice of the South of France right here in Paris, head over to Casimir. I visited three times just last week! This charming spot, nestled near a church, is run by a renowned chef, yet it’s surprisingly affordable. You can enjoy a starter, main course, dessert, and cheese for just 32 Euros. It’s unbelievable value for incredibly delicious food.”

Preferred Mode of Transportation: “Perhaps it’s because I know this city like the back of my hand, but Paris—it’s not that massive, you know? You can stroll for 45 minutes and find yourself on the other side. I either walk or hop on my bike, and it feels like navigating a quaint village. I have a soft spot for the cafés, the terraces (they’re a uniquely Parisian charm), the enchanting architecture, and the city lights at night.”
